Yesterday I decided to make some chili since it was cold and icy outside (still is today, too). I reached for the chili powder and poured about 2 Tbls. in (as mother would say "measured by the elbow"). After I put it in . . . . . t-h-e-n . . . . for some reason (thank you Jesus) . . . I decided to glance at the label. Oh-my-word! I had just poured 2 TABLESPOONS of ground Red Pepper in instead of chili powder :0
Now what ???
I quickly spooned it out and rinsed the meat in a small colander. I then poured the rest of the meat in larger colander and rinsed it as well. It worked! I had to replace some other seasonings, but, no biggy. Fortunately no wet ingredients had gone in. The chili turned out great and was not hot!
That's what I get for taking a break from wearing my contacts!
I must confess one more cooking mishap of the day.
I also decided to make some No-Bake Cookies. I put in the butter to melt and measured out the milk. Only problem here was that -- for some reason -- I doubled the amount of milk. Of course, I didn't realize what I had done until it was in the pan with the melting butter. Too late to take it out!
So . . . I now have a double batch of fudgy, perfectly set cookies. I didn't "need" any in the first place and now I have twice as many as I planned. I guess my fellow workers at the office will be getting cookies tomorrow :)
I don't know what my problem was, but . . . for sure . . . I'm wearing my contacts today!
Love,

YUM!! I want some :)
Thank you for your encouraging words on my blog ... I truly appreciate it!
Happy Wednesday!
I'm glad you were able to salvage the chili.
We had chili last night too. It wasn't the best I've ever made. I really do best with Williams Chili mix. I had to sorta make it up as I went. It was ok.
That's funny that you made those no bake cookies too. My sister and niece did too after reading my blog. They're so easy and so good!
Thanks for calling me back. I'm just gonna leave well enough alone for now. I can't seem to find a template that will work like that one. I think I'm too tired of messing with it. I'll get to it another time.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
Love,
Val
Wow! I wish I worked with you so I could get some of your extras. No, no I don't because I don't need those extras.
Hubby made chili and that's what we're having tonight. Yummy! He makes great chili.
ugh! I do stuff like this all the time! AND my eyes are fine!
I'm hungry! Chili really sounds good right now. I need to get to the store and get the fixings--that will be our SuperBowl meal. I'm also making that spinach artichoke dip with bagel bites. We should be sufficiently comatose to tuck in for a cold winter's night. Your cookies sound so good right now! Love, Annette
Oh..... no bake choco peanut butter oatmeal cookies are my ABSOLUTE favorite! So yum! Okay, now I have to get to the kitchen. My thighs are saying, "No, no NO!" but my tummy is saying, "Oh yeah!"
