Scripture Memory Challenge

"O LORD, you have searched me and you know me.

You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar."

Psalms 139:1-2
(NIV)

This chapter has always been one of my very favorites and was a favorite of my mother's as well. It is one that seems to bring comfort in many of life's situations. Being a Pastor's wife, it has been used on numerous occassions.

My friend, Valerie, told me that she was going to memorize this chapter over the next year and it has 24 verses. The scripture memory challenge is broken into 24 segments. Since I really desired to put Philippains 3:10a (AMP) as my scripture on January 1, I will be memorizing two verses over the next two weeks to be on schedule in memorizing this chapter.

I am so excited to be putting more scripture to memory! We cannot have "output" if there has not been "input".

Love,

Excellent point!
Kinda' along the lines of "garbage in, garbage out."
Most of us -- besides EATING garbage -- (OK... I speak for my junk-food cheating self) also read, watch, and listen to far too much garbage.

What a challenge to memorize the entire chapter of Ps 139 -- and this was part of my devotions with my husband today too. Is God telling me something>???

That's an excellent verse. I'm working on Psalm 25:5 NLT for the LPM Memory Challenge.

So glad that you are participating in the scripture memory challenge, too. We can all encourage one another.

I think Valerie's idea to memorize Psalm 139 is such a great idea.

My second verse is Romans 15:4 (NIV).

May God richly bless you as you hide His Word in your heart!

Isn't it wonderful that so many are memorizing Scripture this year?!!

Like you, I've always wanted to memorize Ps. 139 and just never have done it. It's so cool that there are 24 verses. Perfect!

I had chosen the KJV at first, but I like the NIV better and think I'll memorize better from that version so I'm choosing that. How special that we'll get to share Ps. 139 this year.

I'm praying for you today!
Love,
Valerie

I find both these verses very useful. I had asked the Lord this morning for a verse to memorize. Well these are it(from Psalm 139 and Phillipians).

Thanks and have a wonderful day!

What a great idea to have a whole Psalm memorized at the end of the challenge. I love your verse. It will not return void! Input/Output rule. Love, Annette
