" . . . the day the Lord has made."

God has given us a special day in Oklahoma.
This is the view out my front door this morning. It is sleeting and snowing. Most of the white you see is sleet. I can hear it hitting the windows as I type this post.

This is the backyard. According to the weather reports, it's supposed to continue to sleet and snow until this afternoon. There is anywhere from 1/4" to 1/2" of ice under the sleet. So, that means it is VERY slick. Almost ALL of the schools are closed over the state. The only way I can get to the office is to walk (about 1 block), but I think I'll pass on that. I would be the only one there anyway.

No complaints from me about being iced in today b/c it could be much worse.

Here are a few pictures from our ice storm in December 2007.

Left:
Looking out the front door. You can see that the old tree was a little bigger than in today's pic. Notice the broken limbs on the ground.

Right:
The ice was so heavy on everything. We lost power for three days.

Left:Our poor, beautiful weeping willow! After a good "haircut" and some growing time, it has recovered quite nicely.

Right: Some icy bushes.

And . . . the pond. The water was not frozen in this picture, but on occasion is does freeze and is so pretty. It doesn't get cold enough to skate on it like my dear bloggy friends up North.

Today I am going to snuggle in, cook another "cold day" special, keep the tea kettle on, watch movies, do some "Esther" homework and enjoy the day.

I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday where ever you are.
"This is the day that the Lord has made. I WILL rejoice and be glad in it!" Psalm 118:24

Love,
Sherry

Hi Sherry!
Glad you're not walking to work today! The road conditions here in south Tulsa are pretty rough. We kept hearing a car on the other side of our subdivision wall trying to get out of the ditch. My hubby walked out to take a look, it was a little sports car. Someone in a truck had stopped to help.
Stay cozy & safe!
Blessings,
Carol

Right now I'm off to do dishes...and homeschooling...and several other things while I am iced in. Esther homework needs to get done, too, even though we had to cancel today for the weather. May you be blessed by your study...I know I will be!

Later will be broccoli cheese soup for lunch and for dinner Turkey Chili - really, can you THINK of a better day for those? :o)

May you be greatly blessed during this cold weather in OK!

It's a great day to stay home. I think it'd be dangerous for you to walk to work (if you had to). I forget how many fell yesterday, according to the news? Too many!
Yes....let's just enjoy.
Oh, how I remember the ice storm well of 2007. We were w/out electricity for 7 days! I can handle this any day....that, I don't want to experience again.
I asked D. last night if he knew where all our "stuff" is just in case.
Yes, please keep him in your prayers this afternoon as he'll have to drive home. Maybe he'll get off early.
Sorry you had to cancel your event. Oh well...there's always a reason.
Happy cooking!
Love,
Val

Such beautiful pictures.

We have about 4 inches of snow and we're getting sleet now and they are calling for more snow tonight and ice too. I'm home from work now, so I don't mind too bad.

Hope you are having a wonderful iced in day! Keep warm.

I left an SOS message on your cell regarding my "new look." :( I can't seem to get the blue header off there.
It's about to make me angry. ;)
I didn't know if you were at work or home???
Oh well....I'll keep messing with it.
