"Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord."
Psalm 139:4
The Bible teaches us that there is life and death in the tongue. This scripture reminds us that God knows our words before we even think or speak them. I pray that my words will bring life to others; to encourage and heal wounds caused by the cruelty of life.

Psalm 139 reveals that our God knows us intimately. He knows everything about us; past, present and future. What a comfort to have someone who loves us regardless of our flaws. Isn't He just awesome?!!

You are so right. We must be careful of our words. I love the little prayer that says, "O Lord, help my words to be sweet and tender, for tomorrow I may have to eat them." If we lived by that, I'm sure we'd be so much better off.
As you know I'm memorizing this same chapter and it has come to life to me.
I thought it was so neat that I saw that sign at An Affair of the Heart that said "Jesus Knows Me This I Love". It was confirmation that I'm memorizing the right chapter. He knows us and loves us anyway! ;)
I do pray that the words of my mouth will be words of life.
I'm glad you're memorizing this chapter too. It's one I've always loved.
I go to work today at noon since it's a holiday. The other gal and I are splitting the day.
Love ya Sherry!

I love that little prayer! It's something we all should remember every day! Thanks for sharing.
Amen girl!! Great post and great verse!
You are right - He IS just awesome! We talked about this very thing last night in my Esther class - that there is life and death in the tongue. What a great reminder that God knows our words before we even THINK them!
How awesome it is to know that we have a God who knows us completely --faults and all -- and still loves us!
Psalm 139 is just full of lots of treasures! I love that you are memorizing it!
Just thinking about you this morning (Mon.) as I was reciting verses 1-4 of Psalm 139.
I hope you're doing well and I hope you have a great week.
Love ya,
Valerie
