Fill'n up

Last year the Siestas on the Living Proof Blog were challenged to memorize 24 verses of scripture. In January we met in Houston to celebrate our year in scripture and to say our verses. I memorized Psalm 139 and Philippians 3:10a (25 verses). The Siestas will not be doing this through LPM, however, several of us are continuing to memorize scripture on our own in 2010.

Personally, I have enjoyed putting scripture to memory and find that it becomes easier the more I do it.
This year I have memorized Revelation 17:14 (part of the "Here and Now, Then and There - Study of Revelation" by Beth Moore. Also I have begun memorizing James 1. This is what I have put to memory so far this year:

"They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them,
because He is Lord of lords and King of kings -- and with Him will be His
called, chosen and faithful followers."

Rev. 17:14 (NIV)

"This letter is from James, a slave of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I am writing to the 'twelve tribes' -- Jewish believers scattered abroad.
Greetings!

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way,
consider it an opportunity for great joy.

For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow."

James 1: 1-3 (NLT)

My verses for March are:

"So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed,
you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you.
He will not rebuke you for asking.

But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone.
Do not waiver for a person with divided loyalty is unsettled
as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind."

James 1:4-6
(NLT)

I will be memorizing 28 verses this year; 1 out of Revelation and 27 out of James. What a privilege it is to be free to have numerous Bibles -- in various transaltions! However, if I do not use them or put the Word in my heart and mind, they profit me little. I hunger and thrist for more of my Lord, so I choose to fill up! :)

Love,
Sherry

I'll always remember memorizing Psalm 139 along side you in 2009. I love that Psalm!

I'm not doing quite as well in 2010 but intend on being better. :)

I love your Scripture book.
Seems everywhere I go I'm seeing animal print.

I finally just today put all my pictures from our Houston trip in an album. A friend gave me a photo album for my birthday and they all fit perfectly in there.

We need to get together soon and share pics.

Love ya!
Val

I love seeing such devotion to scripture memory! There's no telling how much fruit has come from what the Siesta group did last year!

I want tell you about a great resource for scripture memory. There's a website at http://scripturetyper.com that helps you memorize by typing scripture. It will track your progress, help you review and can even link in with your blog by displaying verses on the side panel. I hope you find it helpful in your scripture memory quest!

Blessings,

-Brett
